Reed Ripping Plane Kit
This kit is inspired by the Kinney Patent Ripping plane. This plane is designed to quickly rip thin stock down. It does not leave the cleanest edge, but it is perfect for drawer bottoms and small box work.

This kit comes in 3 options.
Just the basic hardware
Post, axle, and blade fully assembled
Full set of plans and instructions
The mid kit has all of the needed cast and specialty hardware
Everything above plus
Bronze escutcheon plate and screws to attach it
Large Bronze depth adjuster wheel (not tapped)
Fence locking thumb nut assembly. (bronze cap and bolt)
The full kit includes all hardware and lumber needed to make the ripping plane. This includes
Everything above plus
1/4” x 3/4” steel rod for fence
Ruffed out body from white oak
Block of White oak for the fence body
Block of wood for adjustment wheel cover and screws needed to attach it
Tote and knob with mounting bolts from Rex Krueger’s Compass Rose Tools

Reed Planes was developed from my frustrations with using Stanley planes and old tired Norris planes. My goal was to create a hand plane that would solve the shortcomings of these planes as well as a way for them to be adjustable due to wear over time. I have adapted many of my improvements for replacement parts that can easily modify a Stanley hand plane.
